Too Little Too Late (Max)

Krystal walked Shooter inside after drying him off. She put his tags on and picked up her cheque book. "Max, I'll be a little late getting home. He's getting shots and being fixed. I don't want him and Buddy fighting over Miley. But, I'm going to the stables after I drop him off. I'll feed your horses for you," she said. Buddy licked Miley's face gently before giving each of the puppies a little lick. James was still eating his food.

He nodded. "Okay." he said. The puppies wanted to play with Buddy

She left Shooter by the door and walked over. She gently kissed James on the forehead then moved to gently kiss Max on the lips. "I promise to be back before dinner if I get that late," she said. She had told Rachel to meet her at the stables to help her with her mare. Buddy started to gently play with the puppies.

Max nodded and kissed her back. The puppies were wagging their small tails and had fun playing with the other dog.

Krystal then left for the vet office with Shooter. James suddenly started to cry. He hadn't wanted his mom to go. "Daddy, I want mommy to come back," he said. Buddy played with the puppies still and glanced over at Miley to check on her.

Max sighed softly and gently picked up James. "She will be back,James." he said smiling. Miley slowly woke up and gently wagged her tail.

James settled down and hugged his dad. "Can we watch a movie?" he asked. He really wanted to watch Ironman again. Buddy wagged his tail seeing Miley awake and he kept playing with the puppies but was gentle about it.

Max smiled and nodded."Sure. We can even watch Ironman." he said. He carried James to the couch and gently put him down. He went to the dvd player and put in Ironman and turned on the tv. He took the remote control and sat down. He put James in his lap and pressed play on the remote control. They started to watch the movie

James giggled and looked at his dad. "Can I have an Ironman costume for Halloween this year?" he asked. Buddy rolled on the floor before licking Miley's face.

Mac smiled and nodded. "Sure,James. Do you want to go trick or treating with Britney?" he asked. Miley gently licked Buddy's face

"Yes, I want to go. But, can I also get an Ironman toy for my birthday?" he said. Buddy was cleaning Miley's fur again.

Max laughed softly. "Okay. " he said smiling. Miley rested her head and watched her puppies. Her puppies were playing with each other

Buddy felt funny and went to lay in his bed by the TV. He wasn't feeling very good and needed to sleep. James watched Buddy. "Daddy, somethings wrong with Buddy," he said.

Max looked at James and got worried. "Let me call Edward." he said. Edward was a vet and he was Krystal's cousin. Miley looked at Buddy with a worried look in her eyes.

Edward answered the phone. "Hi, Max. What can I help you with today?" he said. He was just loading up the kids to go to the park with the dogs.

Buddy whimpered and closed his eyes. He was sick and it was hurting him. James crawled off his dad's lap and then went over to Miley to give her a hug before crawling over to Buddy.

Max sighed. "Buddys sick. Can you come and check on him?" he asked him.

"Sure, I'm on my way to the park with the kids and dogs. I'll grab my vet bag and be right over," he said. He started the truck and hung up the phone before going to Max's place.

Buddy whimpered and suddenly snapped at James as James tried to pet him. James got upset and started to cry. He crawled to Miley and hugged her.

He hung the phone and Miley gently licked James's cheeks. The puppies went to James and looked at him.

"Daddy, Buddy snapped at me," he said still crying. He huddled against Miley not wanting Buddy to snap at him again. Buddy wasn't wagging his tail and his ears were laid back.

Edward parked the truck and got the kids and his bag before going to the door and knocking. Trigger stayed in the truck bed and gently licked Luna's fur.

Max went to the door and opened it. He held the door opened for Edward. "Somethings wrong with Buddy and he snapped at James." he said. Miley continue to gently lick James's cheeks trying to calm him down

Edward set Zach and Elizabeth on the couch and went right over to Buddy. "He may be in pain from what has him sick. I suggest after I give him something to maybe have James stay away from him for a while," he said. He examined Buddy then gave him an antibiotic shot and some pain medicine through a needle.

Buddy left Edward alone and closed his eyes. James settled down and fell asleep against Miley.

Max nodded and looked at Edward. Britney(that is their daughter's name) sat on the couch next to her brother. Luna gently licked Trigger's face. Miley laid her head down and kept an eye on James.

Edward finished up and rubbed Buddy's head. "He just needs some rest. He was only sick from something that was fed to him," he said. He got up and put his stuff back into his bag.

Buddy went to sleep and curled in his bed. James was fast asleep. Zach giggled and played with his feet.

Max nodded and looked at the dogs. Britney looked at her brother and smiled. Miley fell asleep and so did the puppies

(i don't know. Edward doesn't like Max like that)

"I should really get those kids to the park or better yet to day care. This way someone can look after them as I have to work this afternoon," he said.

Buddy stayed asleep and so did James. Zach was missing his mommy and put his thumb into his mouth so he wouldn't cry.
